The Firechief 10 Year Battery Optical Smoke Alarm is a compact, easy-to-install smoke alarm designed to provide reliable early warning of fire in homes and similar residential environments.
It uses photoelectric/optical smoke detection technology, making it particularly effective at detecting fires that develop slowly and produce larger smoke particles, such as smouldering fires.
The alarm is powered by a sealed-in 10-year lithium battery, meaning there is no need to replace the battery during its intended service life. It features a large test button, low-battery/end-of-life indication and a loud 85 dB alarm at 3 metres.
🏠 Standalone smoke alarm — no control panel required
Unlike the EMS SmartCell detectors, this Firechief alarm operates independently.
It does not require a SmartCell control panel, mains wiring or a separate fire alarm control panel.
Simply install it in the appropriate location, activate the alarm and test it.
For homes requiring multiple interconnected alarms, Safe & Smart can also supply suitable Firechief wireless-interlinked models separately.

Where should it be installed?
For domestic properties, smoke alarms should generally be installed in the appropriate circulation spaces, such as hallways and landings, with additional alarms in suitable rooms where required by the property's risk assessment and applicable regulations.
Optical alarms are particularly useful where there may be a risk of false alarms from cooking fumes, although they should not be installed too close to bathrooms or other areas where steam could cause nuisance alarms.
